Dairies & Farms

Buying a cow for $600, an alpaca for $200, or 100 spawning trout for $200 provides vital self-sustaining tools. In addition, our children take great pride in caring for the animals and learn self-sustaining skills such as how to produce marketable commodities like alfalfa, milk products, eggs, wool (alpacas), and fish for local restaurants. To sponsor a cow/alpaca or to donate to the farm, please download our donations form.

Implementation of each area in our Homes, depend largely on donations, skilled laborers and "timing." First we have to have the financial means, then introducing a new program into the routines and daily chores of our homes takes time. We constantly work on balancing volunteer's timetables, our Field Director's project list, as well as the Home Parents availability, taking into account the array of demands we've already placed on them. To date, trout farms, dairies, chicken coops, cuy (guinea pigs), crops and the greenhouse have begun, or are in process to begin, at the Sunflower. We thank you all for your donations to help make all this happen.
