Medical, Dental, and Newborn Care, and Village Development

At the heart of Southern Cross Humanitarian lies it's belief that by working side by side with the people of Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador, sharing and giving of what we have with those who have not, we will bridge cultures and create a stronger interconnected global family. Providing medical, dental and newborn care, as well as village development, creates friendships, and are part of the steps to establish these connections and life long good will for solid footing. For information on how you can go on an Humanitarian Expedition with Southern Cross, please go to Expeditions.

Medical Care
Physicians, Nurses, and specialists in a variety of fields contact SXHU asking what they can do to help. It is nothing short of miraculous how often the professionals extending their services are the exact fit for our current needs. All expeditions can make use of physicians offering to provide medical attention. Please feel free to contact us so we can begin a dialogue that finds the best fit.

Dental Care
Each summer Southern Cross Humanitarian provides a specially designed dental expedition. In addition, medical and dental projects may be added to existing construction expeditions as personnel sign on. Village people will keep doctors busy all day long as they hear about free examinations and extractions.

Newborn Care
Newborn training is provided on all expeditions. Expecting mothers come in masses to have their babies washed, receive instruction and medical advice regarding pregnancies, as well as to get their own newborn kits. For some, it is the first time their babies have been washed and had a diaper. For those on the expeditions providing the help, it is an experience not soon to be forgotten.

Village Development
From providing an entire village with school kits, erecting a community green, or helping to dig a new waterway, SXHU is dedicated to sustainable and long term village development. Many of our projects are the end product of Eagle Scout or youth projects in the states. Information about donation needs and kit lists can be found on the How Can I Help page.
